On 19 May, the European Youth Information and Counselling Agency (ERYICA) officially presented the European Youth Information Quality Label to the Education and Youth Board (Harno) in Chișinău, Moldova. The recognition confirms the reliability and quality of Estonia’s national youth information.

“What makes Estonian youth information unique is that no matter how complex or sensitive the topic, Teeviit helps break it down in a way that young people can truly understand—empowering them to make more informed and conscious decisions. It is equally important that the information is unbiased, based only on trusted sources and expert knowledge. Quality youth information is created through collaboration – both with experts and young people themselves. These are the principles we follow at Harno when managing and developing youth information and the Teeviit portal,” said Reet Kost, Head of the Youth Programmes Centre at Harno.

“In 2024, the Teeviit portal received over 192,000 unique visitors. This shows that young people are actively seeking information that is clear, trustworthy, and truly relevant to their lives. The quality label is an international recognition and a strong validation that Teeviit resonates with young people and supports them on their journey,” she added.

The aim of the Quality Label is to enhance the quality and accessibility of youth information across Europe and to acknowledge the work of youth information providers. The label is awarded for three years, provided that at least 70% of the portal’s content complies with the principles outlined in the European Youth Information Charter. These include, for example, diversity and neutrality of information as well as a focus on prevention work.

The nationwide youth information portal Teeviit was launched in 2018. The website and its social media channels offer young people information on topics such as learning, careers, relationships, safety, the environment, health, and other relevant issues. Young people themselves are actively involved in the portal’s activities, and Teeviit collaborates with national institutions. The name “Teeviit” has been used in nationwide youth-related initiatives since 1994, when the youth information fair of the same name was first organised.

ERYICA, the coordinating agency for issuing and renewing the Quality Label, works to improve the quality and accessibility of youth information services. The agency has 47 member organisations across 26 countries. Estonia has been a member of the network since 2004.
