State examinations

State examinations are exams held at the end of upper secondary school, which must be taken by all upper secondary school graduates in order to graduate from school. On a voluntary basis, state examinations can also be taken by students of vocational education institutions and people who have already acquired secondary education and who need the results of the state examination to continue their studies at a higher education institution. State examinations are held once a year in the spring simultaneously in all Estonian schools.
